What are statutory examples of a defense attorney taking on a case on contingency?

If you are referring to a criminal defense attorney, the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as every state's rules of professional conduct (that I have seen), strictly prohibit taking a criminal case on a contingent fee basis. In other words, I'm not aware of any examples, statutory or otherwise, allowing an attorney taking a criminal case on a contingent fee.
